Not quite sure about them being the "best smellers", but they sure are good for chewing on, batting around and pushing under the chair or couch so the beans can't find them.
I am not that keen on feet no matter what they are wearing...

Slippers are really fun to play with. We don't get the whole smell thing, but our first greyhound loved to steal Mom's left shoe.
